The Small World of Singlish Words

The Small World of Singlish Words is our lab’s ongoing attempt to collect free associations for uniquely Singaporean words, like shiok, diam, sian, and chope. We hope to collect enough free associations in order to build the first cognitive language network of Singapore English words.

The task is super simple: all you have to do is to type out the first few words that come to your mind when presented with one of our Singlish words.

Research is now open to the public! Simply click here and begin! As a bonus, from July 2022 until December 2022, $500 worth of Grab Vouchers are up for grabs (no pun intended) every month, and the more entries you submit, the more you stand to win. Mai paiseh! Contribute to science and get something back in the process!
